It’s coming up to Christmas which feels like a good time for a quote from A Christmas Carol. This isn’t one of the most memorable lines from the book, or the most quoted, but it seems like just the right quote this Christmas.
“Really, for a man who had been out of practice for so many years it was a splendid laugh!”
― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
I don’t know about you but I haven’t laughed nearly as much in 2020 as usual. And being an adult, I don’t laugh that often at the best of times!
What I take away from this quote is that being out of practice is no barrier to greatness! Apparently laughter is not one of those things that always just happens by itself, we have to make time for it and look for ways to make it happen.
There are a couple of weeks left of the year and I’m going to try to fill them with cheer and merriment. We do, after all, have a brighter future to look forward to. And frankly, I’m fed up with alternating between sadness and seriousness all the time.
So amusing books, comedy films, games, jokes, and maybe even a silly song, are the order of the day here.
I’m open to suggestions – give me your recommendations. Keep it family friendly please!
