If you read young adult fiction, you don’t need to keep it a secret. Lots of adults are doing it. In fact, a blog on goodreads.com this week, suggests there may be more adults enjoying this genre than the teenagers it is written for.
There are many great qualities to be found in this type of writing, but I believe one of the key reasons more and more adults are turning to young adult fiction is simply that it is often quicker to read.
Have you ever started reading a novel only to find you don’t have the time to finish it? Or picked up a book you are part-way through and struggled to remember the story so far? That doesn’t often happen with young adult fiction.
Every moment, from the enticing beginning to the satisfying end, can be savoured in a few bedtime reading sessions, a rainy weekend afternoon, or an otherwise boring train commute.

I’m hoping to fit in a few picnics over the summer. Along with the food and the frisbee, I plan to enjoy sitting under a tree reading a young adult book.
What will you be reading?
